The scars from surgeries and procedures endured as a child can influence the way you see, experience, and feel about your body throughout life. During this program, our compassionate speakers will explore the impact of scars on body image and emotional health. Hear ideas to enhance body positivity and learn techniques and strategies to see your body as more than a map of experiences with congenital heart disease (CHD).

About the Presenter

Jamie Jackson, PhD, is a principal investigator at the Center for Biobehavioral Health in the Abigail Wexner Medical Research Institute at Nationwide Children’s Hospital, an associate professor of Pediatrics and Psychology in the College of Medicine and Department of Psychology at The Ohio State University, and a licensed clinical health psychologist with advanced training in cardiac behavioral medicine and CHD research. She is interested in the lived experience of individuals with CHD and is interested in promoting emotional wellbeing and quality of life through identifying barriers to engaging in healthy behaviors and accessing care, including social drivers of health.
