Did you know that many women with congenital heart disease (CHD) can have a safe and successful pregnancy? Yet, for some with CHD, pregnancy carries increased risk due to the stress it places on the mother’s cardiovascular system. This webinar will review the cardiovascular changes that occur during pregnancy and their potential effects on patients with CHD. The role of a specialized medical team (the cardio-obstetrics team) in managing potential risks and supporting pregnant mothers with CHD will be talked about. Finally, the presenter will summarize what you, as a person with CHD, can expect before, during and after pregnancy. You do not want to miss this webinar if you are a woman with CHD who is thinking about becoming pregnant.
