What Song Inspires You?

Performing American Sign Language to music has always been a hobby of mine, since I was nine years old. I usually try to pick inspirational songs and when DreamWorks’ Prince of Egypt animated movie came out in 1998, there was one song that really spoke to me that I think will also speak to a lot of CHD families and patients.

I wanted to share the song with you, “When You Believe,” by Mariah Carey and Whitney Houston, in hopes that the next time things get rough, or you feel like you’ve lost all hope, you remember that miracles can and do happen.

Here’s my favorite verse, along with the chorus:

Many nights we pray
With no proof anyone could hear
And our hearts a hopeful song
We barely understand
Now we are not afraid
Although we know there's much to fear
We were moving mountains long
Before we know we could

There can be miracles
When you believe
Though hope is frail
It's hard to kill
Who know what miracle
You can achieve
When you believe
Somehow you will
You will when you believe

Is there a song that you find inspirational? Or one you think others will benefit from hearing? Feel free to share the lyrics!
