Director's Description
The Adult Congenital Heart Disease (ACHD) Program at the Massachusetts General Hospital is among the oldest and largest in the country and emphasizes lifelong personalized multidisciplinary care. The program has sites in Boston, Waltham and Worcester and provides care for individuals residing in New England, as well as throughout the US and internationally. We offer state of the art care with low dose radiation CT imaging, cardiopulmonary exercise testing with imaging, advanced cardiac MRI and echocardiography, all specifically designed for the adult congenital heart patient. The MGH Waltham Center offers ACHD Health and Wellness programs focused on stress management, exercise prescription, and atherosclerotic cardiovascular disease risk assessment and prevention. Telemedicine visits are available for patient and physician consultation for those individuals who live far away or find it challenging to fit in frequent in person visits in order to supplement their care. The MGH is fortunate to have the MGH for Children's pediatric cardiology program housed in the same building, thereby offering a combined transition program to empower adolescents to take responsibility for their care as they emerge into adulthood. We also continue to train our MGH cardiology fellows as well as the rotating fellows from our network of affiliated programs and referring hospitals, in the specialized care of the adult congenital heart disease patient and their families.
