An update from the November e-newsletter:
We hope you have saved the date for ACHA’s 7th National Conference at the Holiday Inn Chicago Mart Plaza! We look forward to hosting patients, family members, medical providers and researchers from September 5-7, 2014, for this unique opportunity that allows the entire ACHD community to come together to interact, learn and build hope for the future.
We know that many CHD survivors face economic hardship due to their lifelong cardiac disability, and so ACHA will continue to offer registration and travel scholarships to eligible applicants—past scholarship recipients tell us that attending an ACHA National Conference is a life-transforming event. A donation to the Karen McNulty Heart Heroes Scholarship Fund will help continue to make this possible. Karen (Klein) McNulty was a co-founder and the first president of ACHA, and among other positions, was also co-chair of the first ACHA National Conference in September 2000.
As an organization, ACHA owes its solid foundation to Karen's vision, intelligence and dedication. This special fund was created to honor her memory; Karen strongly believed that it should be possible for everyone to attend an ACHA conference regardless of their circumstances.
