Leadership Update: Thanks for Your Support

This is the leadership update from ACHA's January e-newsletter.

At the beginning of 2011, ACHA set an ambitious target: $143,150 of donations from our members in support of ACHA programs. Not only did we meet this target, but we exceeded it. At the year's end, ACHA supporters had donated $158,520, including $64,550 in the month of December alone. How else did our members show their support in 2011? One way was through leading, walking at, and donating to the national Congenital Heart Walks campaign. These efforts raised $645,756 to support congenital heart research and programs provided by ACHA, the Children’s Heart Foundation and Mended Little Hearts. These programs improve the lives of individuals and families throughout the United States struggling with congenital heart disease. Want to get involved? In 2012, Congenital Heart Walks will be coming to some exciting new places, including New York City, Chicago and Boston, and more than 20 other places around the U.S. More information can be found by clicking here.

As February approaches, ACHA will again be celebrating CHD Awareness through Congenital Heart Lobby Day, being held in Washington, D.C., Feb. 29 – March 1. This is a unique opportunity for patients, families and healthcare providers from all over the U.S. to meet face-to-face with their representatives to educate about the unmet needs of the national congenital heart community, and to ask for the surveillance and research we need to thrive. In addition to a Congressional Briefing on CHD and individual lobby visits, our attendees will enjoy a welcome reception hosted by the American College of Cardiology and a celebratory dinner when our long day is done. Attending Lobby Day is a unique opportunity to learn more, make an impact, and meet some wonderful new people. Hope to see you there!
